Infrastructure Solutions
The Marvell Infrastructure solutions are complete reference designs for extending Wireless LAN connectivity in any environment. These ‘Universal Repeater’ solutions are available for 802.11g/b and 802.11a/g/b standards. Each solution uses Marvell universal repeating protocol to repeat any 802.11b, 802.11g/b, or 802.11a/g/b Access Points or Gateways. This algorithm allows seamless extension of Wireless LAN range and is more extensible than previous Wireless Distribution Systems (WDS) algorithms
The Marvell Universal Repeater is extremely small footprint, about the size of a business card, and is based on a 2-chip architecture that comprise of a SoC and a RF chip. The SoC provides a highly reliable and cost-effective solution that integrates baseband, MAC, an embedded ARM microprocessor with on-chip memory for performance optimization, one 10/100 Ethernet interface. The microprocessor implements all WLAN functions (802.11 protocol, Access Point functionality, encryption, authentication, quality-of-service) and Universal Repeater functionality. The RF chip also integrates an on-chip Power Amplifier and Low Noise Amplifier which minimizes external components and improves manufacturing reliability.
